Amazon has yet to confirm it will be unveiling its eagerly-awaited tablet, seen by many as a direct competitor to Apple’s all-conquering iPad, but tech journalists claim to have been sent invitations for a press conference on Wednesday morning.
Those who claim to have already seen the Amazon Kindle Fire suggest it will be a 7inch tablet and similar to the Blackberry Playbook.
TechCrunch claims the Kindle Fire will look like the PlayBook ‘because it was designed and built by the same original design manufacturer (ODMa), Quanta’.
The Kindle Fire is widely expected to be subsidised by Amazon allowing it to break into the hugely competitive tablet market.
The tablet is also expected to take advantage of the Kindle bookstore and new deals with film and TV companies allowing video streaming.
While the Kindle Fire is expected to be released in November in the US, it will reportedly not be available in the UK until next year.
