A parade of antique autos will roll on to the grounds of the Southampton Historical Museum for the 5th Annual Southampton Antique Auto Show on Saturday, August 20th. The day will attract car enthusiasts from across the island and bring some 40 beautifully restored autos from the teens through the sixties to the Rogers Mansion.
Museum trustee and 1931 model A Ford owner Bob Beck has been attending car shows and restoring cars for over 40 years. As chair of the show Bob is always impressed with the level of dedication to the restoration of these autos. “These owners have a true love of antique cars which are all original restorations and driven throughout the season. What makes this show so special is the location. The museum grounds are the perfect setting for an antique auto show.”
Past shows have brought in a 1929 Ford Huckster, a 1957 Pontiac Star Chief Custom, a 1963 Willys Jeep Wagon and a 1951 Jaguar XK120 to name a few. As the show grows, so does the effort to feature true vintage cars.
The Southampton Historical Museum is located at 17 Meeting House Lane, Southampton. Admission is $5 or free for museum members and children under 17. For more information call the museum at 283-2494.
