Queen Sona Pavlasova Ceska With Countess Petra Brehl And Queen HectorThe Halloween party at Cherry's On The Bay, was just one wild event. In all my years of attending this event, I never saw this club so packed with such outrageous costumes.
This year the theme for The Dune Point Fire Island was B.C. I am really amazed at the work that went into everyone's costumes.
When I first arrived back, to my favorite hideaway Dune Point in Cherry Grove, I noticed as we were bringing my sons DJ equipment to our suite, that Petra Brehl's mom was sitting in the gazebo in deep concentration. The Czech republic beauty Sona Pavlasova Ceska, who summers here with daughter Dune Point's Countess Petra Brehl, was hard at work doing something. As soon as we un-packed I just had to run over there, yell A-Hoy and then find out what she was up too. Mom, as our very close Dune Point family calls her, was sewing and designing costumes for the famed event. I could not believe the work that she was doing, and as I found out later, everyone connected to Dune Point was doing.

Rick DugasDune Point's Rick Dugas was hidden away designing his B.C. outfit, and Petra was telling me that Fire Islands legend Nikki Cerrato, was making some kind of box for me, that I could still snap photos in. I cringed as I heard this, I am just not a costume kinda guy. And my son DJ BrandyWine, aka John Brand, was not too happy either. We are being told we had to wear mud and only have on underwear and there was no way we wanted to do this, but we nodded our heads, like we really intended to walk around half naked. I don't know what my box was all about, but thank god I never had to find out.
We were told to be at Nikki's house on Saturday evening at 7pm sharp by Petra, so as all my friends know, I am just about always on time. Petra on the other hand seems to be on Czech Republic time, all the time.

Hector And VinnyWe arrive at Nikki's and of course there is no Petra. The stress is in the air. Mark and Eric are still designing their costumes, making mud and pulling grass from the bay to attach to their throne. Nikki is hard at work making shoulder pads out of horseshoe crabs and checking the temperature of the mud as it was getting cold out and my son and I are afraid to ask what they have in store for us. Vinny and Hector, who have been going to Dune Point since the dinosaurs roamed the island, arrived with us in full costume.
I knew this was my chance to throw out at Nikki that we really did not want to dress up. I expected a explosion, but to my relief Nikki said OK. I knew right away, that they were so hard at work designing their costumes, that they haven't even started ours. This was great news.
So, it's getting colder and colder, the temperature seemed to be dropping more and more and everyone is wearing less and less getting ready to put their mud on. John and I are wearing our warm jackets and still we were cold. The time arrives around 9pm, when the Czech Republic's own Sona Pavlasova Ceska, Petra Brehl and Rick Dugas, still on Czech Republic time, arrive in full costume, ready to get their mud. I had no idea what a crazy night this was going to be.
Finally everyone is mudded up. The time has arrived. We head onto the boardwalk, the tribe of Dune Point is ready for their grand entrance. The throne is loaded up with B.C. King Mark, with Rick Dugas and Nikki Cerrato carrying the royalty of Dune Point, Petra Brehl playing a pregnant cave woman, carrying a baby and Sona Pavlasova Ceska poking everyone with her thorn headdress, every time she turned her head. Dune Point was ready!
We arrive at Cherry's On The Bay and the party was on. Famed DJ Susan Levine was spinning. We pushed our way through the crowd with our throne and this was not easy. The place was packed and people just did not want to get out of our way. The people that did move were lucky. The ones that refused to move, learned their lesson quick when Sona turned her head and poked them with her thorns. Don't mess with our Czech security forces. Sona was in the military.

The Boys From FranceEveryone was there. Cherry's Jaquie and Donna, Bartender and model Danny in drag and Belvedere's own Craig Eberhardt with Julian. There was guests from France and all over the world for this bash. And the best costume winners? The Dune Point B.C. Tribe.
This is why Dune Point in Cherry Grove Fire Island is my favorite retreat. You can not have this much fun anywhere else.
