Has Larry Page given up on Google+

Rumours are circulating that Google+ chief executive Larry Page may have given up using the social networking site.
The tech expert has not posted publicly on the online resource for more than a month, despite being a prolific poster when it was first launched. Google has defended Mr Page, but stopped short of disclosing whether he was still an active user of the Facebook rival.

'We don't comment on individual profiles, but it's important to keep in mind that sharing activity can be taking place privately to circles,' a spokesman said.
'As we've shared before, we're seeing that people are two to three times more likely to share content with one of their circles than to make a public post.'

The unique selling point of the Google+ platform is that users can create circles of contacts, meaning they have more control over who sees their posts and other information than Facebook allows.

With 25 million sign-ups in the first month, it far exceeded the one million members Facebook achieved in its inaugural 30 days back in 2004.
Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg, who is still active on the site seven years on.
