For most of the ppl with hateful comments, Reality sucks and bites back. I agree with dilip and unfortunately, among billions voices and opinions dont matter. Just brutal personal attacks.
That said. We cant stop the outsourcing and dumping. Today is biilions from India and china and tomorrow rest of billions from rest of world (like Africa and rest).
If you dont have any proper counter argument, dont post. Period, dont stoop to personal attack.(race,caste,place and commutiy and alma mater).

Where did I say ROW need not participate?!Instead I asked ROW members to participate more actively and become a mainstream component of the movement!
Those ROW members who are part of the IV are supportive of removing country caps. They are satisfied with IVs stand that increase in numbers along with removal of country with benefit all - ROW, Indians, Chinese, Mexicans and Phillipinos. No EB immigrant will be left behind :-)

If they change the current law to favor Indians, then it will be disciminatory to other nationals. Think the other way..

Guys,
I have been working here for 9 years and next year we plan to return back to India. I spoke to SSN customer service to find out my retirement and survivor benefits. Being an Indian citizen, all these are available only if me, or my dependants, have a valid residing status with the US, at the time of making the application. The contribution at this point is like getting a right to work. This is outrageous.
We all have been legally invited into this country for a work, and that means the US gov should protect our legal and fair interests. It is universally true that everyone works to protect his family. Now here is a case, where I have no right to my retirement money just because I dont have a legal resident status. Whose fault is this. I already made the application 6 years ago. If my home country does not have the comparable SSN structure, then return the money back? We will pay the taxes and take the money back. Our kids need it.
I dont know what is the appropriate channel to get this fixed. This appears more like human rights violation, or abuse. I am sure there are many in this forum who are in the same boat as I am. Can someone team up with me to do more research or share your discoveries.
To the US, this is what I got to say:

Before you bring in additional workers to support your companies, do necessary corrections in your immigration policies to let them in only with green card. Dont strangulate their careers. Your existing policies have been burning the aspirations and careers of a lot of innocent people from India and China.
To those innocent legal foreign workers that have already gathered 40 points in SS, you owe them. They deserve citizenship, not green card. I know it is jumping across multitude of issues, but is it not fair.

I completely agree with you.
As a Tamil, I too carry the Indian passport with shame and can't wait to see the day when I become a US citizen.
Let me be the first to say, all the best to you to get the US citizenship fast... and more importantly good riddance... And all the best for Americans to get a model citizen like you. By the way, I hope you do know about the oath you need to take to become an American. Hope you do that sincerely and are not narrow-minded then.

OK, let's assume the SC invalidates country-based quotas. All EB-based immigration has to stop at that point until new law is written and passed......
Isn't this we want. New Law. I am pretty sure when new law is being written and debated and passed, we could lobby for the changes we want. I believe, the EB process will not stop during this process because the govt machinery cannot say let the new law comes into force and then we process. They have to process the GC as per the existing law.
First we go the judiciary route. If we win that would be awesome. If we loose that will give us more visibility. More visibility could attract more sympathetic support than what we have right now. Also there will be clear distinction in senators mind between Illegal and Legal immigration. The hearings will expose the lies behind Lou D talk shows.
I believe that this process will act as a catalyst, to the entire process. We are already facing retrogression. Maybe another couple of years of extra wait would be worthwhile if this can bring in the reforms.:)

These armed groups only spring into existence because of suppression or power greed. Earlier times it was suppression, later it became power greed which killed the cause. Peaceful protests are always watched and will be supported by world. With technology in hand, (post LTTE) tamils could show to the world that they have a peaceful fight at hand.

Your example is not the same as simsachu's. simsachu assumes there are way more "bad" fish compared to the good one's in the population. Hence you need to catch more fish to come across a "good" one.
You assume the opposite (there are very few bad fish) and hence come to the conclusion that catching more fish would net you more bad fish (but way more "good" fish as well) as well. But given your assumption, it is puzzling why you want to have lesser number of GC's (if indeed that is what you are advocating, I haven't read all the messages in the thread) when you assume there are way more "good" candidates than bad.
