Climate Neutral Pole2Pole Expedition Meets Renowned Speaker Deepak Chopra, MD in San Diego

Deepak Chopra And Johan Ernst Nilson

While on his Pole2Pole Expedition from the North Pole to the South Pole cycling through the west coast, World Explorer Johan Ernst Nilson had a rendezvous with Deepak Chopra, MD founder of the Chopra Center for Wellbeing, at his center located in San Diego, CA. Nilson informed Chopra of his journey, which began in the North Pole, and has led him through Canada and the United States, soon to be arriving in Mexico City. Sharing a background of motivational speaking, Nilson and Chopra were able to share their past experiences and observations, which are recognized globally — Nilson focuses on eco-friendly environmental issues and charitable efforts, and Chopra focuses on spirituality, happiness and the body’s well-being.

Honoring the anniversary of American Explorer Robert E. Peary’s expedition to the North Pole, as well as the history-making expedition of Norwegian Explorer Roald Amundsen, who was first to reach the South Pole in 1911, Johan started the voyage by walking more than 124 miles on the Arctic ice of the North Pole to the Svalbard Archipelago in Norway. Johan was then scheduled to navigate across the Arctic Ocean to Ottawa, Canada, however, less than three months into his journey, the explorer was forced to change route towards Vancouver, Canada, due to the ice drift and harsh climate. Johan and his team were forced to compensate time by increasing their daily work/travel regiment to twelve hours a day. The summer temperatures rose to approximately 14 degrees Fahrenheit (-10 degrees Celsius), which has caused a lack of ice to the North of Greenland. Because of this, and with limited rations, the Pole2Pole team was advised to travel to Vancouver, Canada. During this time, Johan traveled to New York City, USA and attended a meeting with The Clinton Foundation regarding environmental awareness, as well as attended a conference with the UNICEF foundation. He then flew back to Vancouver, Canada to continue his expedition, cycling his way along the West Coast.

The expected duration of Climate Neutral | Pole2Pole—one year! Teaming up with iconic brands such as Audi—which recently named him a Brand Ambassador—and ZENITH Watches, Johan is known globally as The Environmental Explorer, and has accomplished some 30 excursions across 100 countries. Fans around the world are invited to track Johan’s travels, as he blogs and tweets his way across the globe.
