That's really tough! I don't think I can keep the same job profile for 10 years. Neither can I form a start-up and have it sponsor my GC application.
The only hope might be to become a multinational executive really fast, or win the lottery and invest a million dollars in the US. :)

I would argue that Indian consulting biggies saw that they could offer resources to clients at much cheaper rates than offered by American consulting companies. That drove down billing rates for everyone. Also one cannot deny the fact that persons who faked their resumes have contributed to the decline of the quality of talent pool. Don't get me wrong, bad apples existed and thrived in both big and small companies. But the occurences of such misdeed is/was more rampant in body shops. Some examples are the hiring of fresh grads & H4 & other unskilled workers and passing them off as "high skilled resource".
On the other hand if American consulting companies bill high rates to clients, they are at leat still paying decent wages to their employees. So wages stay at moderate levels. But what This whole tiered employement brought into play was that the actual employee was not getting paid too much but the client would still pay quite a bit, maybe not as much as what an American consulting company would bill. The wages of IT professionals went down.
Though this memo is reiterating the same rule again, they want to send a message that body shops are hurting the overall balance of the arrangement they had prior to when desi comapnies setup shops, and that they are keen on eliminating this source of imbalance.
Aren't billing rates the reason why the Indian IT biggies decided to establish business consulting practices? They are offering to bring the same employee that a PWC or Accenture brings in, but at a lower rate to the client.
The quality difference is also not huge (one lisps better in English and another doesn't); there's junk everywhere and these big IT companies also hire people at minimum H-1B wage to improve margins. Lot of times you get what you pay for.

I was hoping you could help or answer this question.
My GC was approved last month after a very long wait time. Currently I am working for company B on EAD (not the GC filing employer). The question I had was can I continue to work for company B on a part time basis and join company A (GC filling employer).
Company A has a 9 month probation period I am worried if i quiet company B and company A fire me later then I will be with out job.

What you get is 1099-MISC the same you get for your stocks and investments. Talk to your lawyer and find out.

Dividends and Interest incomes have their own line items on 1040 (Lines 8 and 9)...The business income is reported under line items 12 and if one makes enough money from the business then there is Self Employment tax - SS and Medicare taxes (Line 56). This is the line item that might get one in trouble with USCIS..You obviously have not filed 1099-MISC yet which tells me that you don't make $600 a year from Amway yet..otherwise you would have gotten a 1099-Misc

So, the best way to apply for US green card would be to attain Canadian citizenship to provide flexibility of using TN visa and then apply for GC using EB-1 category as a manager. 8000 Indians (almost the complete 7% ANNUAL limit for I485) were PERM certified in the first quarter of fiscal 2007 (oct-dec 2006) itself! No wonder we have big backlogs for India...
An older stat, for the first year of PERM (march-05 to march-06):

shows that 80K cases were filed, and of these 36K certified. Assuming of the 23K rejections 14K were appealed and then got through, that means only 50K PERM approvals in the whole year. As dates retrogress in the future, and slowly start moving again, they should hopefuly cross this march-2005 to march-2006 timeframe fairly fast... Some of these I140s would have gotten denied, some of these cases possibly abandoned (no substitution also now!), and some I485s would get caught in namechecks and what not..

If you really want to select Canada as an option then you are better of moving to Windsor and working in Detroit. If you show a canadian address (that means you are living in canada), you should also pay canadian taxes (based on your US income). Just showing a canadian address is no good if you don't pay canadian taxes.

I have seen the same situation in 2005 when i was buying a home with a credit score of over 700. I was denied by so many lenders, but anyway got a decent loan from Wellsfargo.
(But those days are different, housing market is on high, no worries of credit crisis etc;)

What are your options if the Canadian PR expires (go to CA get PR and come back to US) and you are still in the US ? OR say you are in your 4th/5th year of CA PR and then you then desire to go to CA, can you re-apply for the Canadian PR ? If you can, what is the procedure .... ?

Yes it will, unless there are more EB1I visas which could spill over to EB2I, in which case EB2I will move ahead of EB3I. But that guy has also said that the spill over may not happen because of the demand for EB1I.
Its just unbelievable that EB2I and EB3I (i.e. the persons who have PD when the numbers were calculated) will have to wait for about 19 years to get their GCs. We HAVE to do something about this.
60K EB2-I and 60K EB3-I pending so far. Does this mean Eb2 and EB3 dates will move together from now on for India?

Three facts, followed by one interpretation.
First: several members (incl self) have checked with their own lawyers and these lawyers tend to agree with the common interpretation of validity for entire month. And at least some of these are lawyers with many years of practice.
Second: Fragomen, the largest immigration law firm, on its website mentions the mid-month possibility; so while there is no government source, the whole topic cannot be dismissed as an unfounded rumor.
Third: Macaca keeps cutting and pasting from the ombudsman's report in many different colors.
My interpretation:

(I emailed the state department seeking an answer; not surprisingly, I haven't heard back. If anyone else can get something from the horse's mouth, then post it here. How else is a consulting company supposed to work - if they do not send their consultants to client site? Consulting is not always a one month affair - all IT organizations need long term consulting on permanent basis from subject matter experts. Again I know for sure that this is a misguided memo from some folks in USCIS who has no practical understanding of the complexity of modern IT organizations.
I am posting this again because I want the discussion to focus back on what is really important and not soothe someone's personal ego.

My question is : Is is possible to at least enter CA for the last (during 5th) year of CA PR ? Also is it possible to re-apply for the CA PR once I am say 4 years done in my CA PR life without entering CA ? Gurus , please shed some light.
