TIMES SQUARE LIVING
****
You know, I feel guilty tonight. It's been a rough and very hot day here in Times Square. I did not wake up in a nice way.
Around 10 this morning, I hear pounding on my neighbors door. I'm laying in bed and I hear this knocking and this woman calling out the name Andrea. I'm thinking to myself, that this will stop in a second. I am waiting and waiting and the pounding still continues and then I could not take it anymore after ten minutes.
I am not a pretty site in the morning if I am woken up. I'm just not. So I throw on some shorts, I can't even close them all the way and I swing open my door and I see this lady from Meals On Wheels or something like that and I start yelling. I'm standing in the hallway with no shirt, no shoes and my pants half down. Worst of all, I look like Frankenstein in the morning if I don't get to take my shower right away. I am not a pretty site.
So I see this woman with all her morning food deliveries and I realize it was the same woman I chased away weeks ago for the same thing. I am furious that once again she woke me up. I start telling her to get out of my hall, that she woke me up once again and she needs to leave. Meanwhile security from the building is walking by and I tell the guy to get this woman out of here. I'm yelling and yelling and I am sure everyone thought I should be committed. I worked till 6am and here was this woman waking me up at 10 am.
I go back inside my apartment, throw on a shirt and sneakers and I pull up my pants. Nothing I can do about my Frankenstein hair. I head out into the hallway to go down to management to complain, and this lady and security guard are by the elevator. Not to miss a beat, I start yelling again at this woman, telling her other people live in this building and there is no reason to wake everyone up because of one lady that needs a meal. I told her I do not want her back in my hallway again and then the security guard starts yelling at me telling me that she will be back and I have no right to tell her she is not allowed in my hallway. So I start yelling at him, and I like this guy, he's one of the best guards we have here. Like I said, I am not a pretty site if I am woken up at any time of the day or night. I work hard on Times Square Gossip. Late at night I am going through stories and posting them, and the most time consuming thing I do is picking photos. I think photos are the most important thing that has to look not just good, but great.
Lo And Behold, as I am getting into the elevator, I look at this woman and I realize she is filming me with her phone. I can not believe it. I got a paparazzi in my hallway!
So I head to managements office and I am bitching and bitching at the new assistant manager and I have her call the head of security into the office. Of course this is the first time she has met me, the head of security and the building manager have seen me many times when I am woken up and it's never a good sight. It's nothing new to them, but I am sure it was a wake-up call to her.
I explain to Kelly our new assistant manager and Felix the head of security. Felix tells me this is not the story he got, but he was glad I spoke to him to tell him my version. I also demand they stop this Meals On Wheels lady in the lobby and get the footage of me going crazy. I leave the office and I look over the railing and see this woman leaving the building. I run to the security desk and demand they stop her and get the phone footage. The same security guard, who like I said I like, starts yelling at me. Here I go, back upstairs to the managers office. Felix is still there and he gets on the radio and I see the guards run out the door. I do not know if they got the footage from this lady or not. All I know is my day should not start this way. All I know is I got no sleep and there was no way I was going to get back to sleep now.
I feel guilty. Meals On Wheels is a great charity and the people that use it are in need. I am sure the woman is a volunteer, I think most Meals On Wheels people are. If she had said something like sorry, I would have returned to my cage and tried to get back to sleep. Instead she acted like she had a right to wake anyone up to deliver her meal. Then she is filming me. Expect it on You Tube. There is no privacy in this world anymore and there is no quiet. I hope I go viral!
