Chef Deborah Pellegrino, Executive Pastry Chef for Harrah’s Resort and Showboat Atlantic City, last night won the high-stakes competition of the popular TV series Food Network Challenge. Chef Pellegrino battled three esteemed pastry chefs from across the nation for a “Chocolate Myths” challenge where all chocolate creations were to be modeled after mythical creatures and then magically brought to life with the help of extreme special effects.
Given just eight hours to assemble her sweet mythical creation, Chef Pellegrino battled twists and turns in the Challenge kitchen to bring her “Kraken cake” to life, sending her back to Atlantic City with the grand prize of $10,000.
“Competing in the Chocolate Myths battle was exhilarating,” said Chef Pellegrino. “It was an honor representing Atlantic City in the Challenge Kitchen today and I’m thrilled to be bringing the crown to the boardwalk!”
This was Chef Pellegrino’s second time appearing on Food Network Challenge, having competed earlier in the year to create a joke-telling confection on the “Comic Cake” challenge.
