With the stars of The Only Way Is Essex heading off to Marbella, BAFTA in hand, for a post-season break and their would-be replacement Made In Chelsea failing to set screens alight, reality show fans have a gaping hole in their midweek light-entertainment schedule.
The stars of MTV's new programme Geordie Shore are hoping to take over.
Jay, Greg, James, Gary, Charlotte, Holly, Vicky and Sophie ignored the grey clouds in Newcastle yesterday to strip down to their swimwear and pose for photos in a hot tub to promote the show, which premieres tonight.
The cast of the series are cut from the same cast as the TOWIE lot: fake-tanned, fake-eyelashed and with a penchant for partying.
But while The Only Way Is Essex maintains that the cast are going about their regular lives (although some scenes are set up purely for your entertainment), the Geordie gang have moved into a luxury house, complete with shared bedrooms and a hot tub to house the inevitable risky business.
Like their American counterparts in Jersey Shore, the reality star hopefuls will take on jobs together at a promotions company by day, that's if they are not too hungover from their antics on the Diamond Strip the night before.
Vicky, 23, is said to be the Queen Bee of the notorious Newcastle nightspot after 'working the ropes' at some of the Strip's top clubs and is now a VIP wherever she goes.
Charlotte, 20, admits to usually rounding out nights out by 'getting in a scrap' and once broke into an ex-boyfriend's house - only to accidentally climb into bed with his dad.
She says: 'Girls call me a s**t, ex-boyfriends call me a psycho and my Mum calls me an idiot.'
As for the guys - self-proclaimed 'Spice Boys' are obsessed with grooming and spend even longer than the girls getting ready.
Jay boasts about his prowess with the ladies, and his schedule involved partying three to four nights a week.
The unemployed lothario devotes his life to 'GTL' (that's gym, tanning and laundry, a term coined by his Jersey Shore counterparts).
