WHY MADONNA NEEDS A SMACK:

People like Madonna who complain piss me off. I feel like just smacking her. Why can’t she just be gracious? It makes me sick when people who are successful and have a lot of power and money behave that way. They act like pigs! I get so upset. I like to consider myself the anti-asshole. I think that Lady Gaga is just a product of your times. It’s over saturation with computers and social networking. She’s a product of all of that. She’s taken all the great influences and all the great performance artists, including Marilyn Mansion and Alice Cooper and combined them. I see more Debbie Harry and Grace Jones than I see Madonna in her act. Everybody keeps saying Madonna, Madonna, but Madonna can’t sing like that.

ON ROD STEWART "NOT A NICE GUY":

I’m going to get it good! Rod and I.... I don’t know how to explain our relationship. I really think he’s immensely talented. I have to put that out there first, before I start to say anything else. We dated during the “Do You Think I’m Sexy” era and I’ll tell you why I dated him. He was the most charming, funny and talented little devil. If he wanted you he worked hard to get you. It wasn’t easy to say no. He did everything you’re supposed to do. Romantic phone calls, flowers, proper dates. He was a class act. But a little too consumed at that time with the rock star higher anarchy. He didn’t always treat people so nicely. Meanwhile someone like Mick Jagger was always gracious. He treated everyone around him with respect, even when he was angry. I thought Rod was childish and I think he would be the first to admit it. He’s become a great man now. He cares about connections now and all those children he’s put out into the world.

HOW SHE RAISED LIV TYLER:

The most important thing I taught Liv was manners. I know I was very damaging to myself as a young girl when I blow off appointments or just not show up for a cover shoot. It was disrespectful and I never should have behaved that way. I still sometimes sit on a chair and cry wondering if I ever hurt anyone or caused anyone problems because I was late. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it’s very important to me. Liv still writes people hand written thank you notes. When someone does something for Liv, I taught her to sit down and thank them. She knows she has a great job that pays more than what most people make. She’s got the whole package and I worked with her the first 6 years of her career and made sure she was very prepared when she went out into the world.

ADMITS SHE NEVER HAD A 3 WAY!

I tried a lot of stuff. Believe it or not the only thing I haven’t tried, and people will find this extremely difficult to believe is a 3 way. (Laughs) That’s an exclusive! I’m notoriously heterosexual even though I love women. I admire them and love being surrounded by them. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not icy. I have a warmth, but I’m not a real sexual being as far as feeling that’s the most important way to communicate. Sex takes the most time and the most thought and performance. The connection you make with someone you love is huge. People who think I have sex on my mind when I’m on stage are wrong. It’s not where I’m coming from.

James Edstrom's Note: I have met Bebe many times over the years, and she is the most sweetest person. Most of all, she listens to what you have to say and she is always ready for a good laugh. Having photographed her daughter Liv Tyler a few times over the years, you can see the class Bebe installed in her.
